How to use the Visual Tile Designer™

The Visual Tile Designer™ is extremely easy to use.

Did you play with Colorforms™ as a child? Have you ever used a magnetic marker board? Do you have kitchen refrigerator magnets or a magnetic calendar at the office? Well, it’s as easy as picking the pieces up and moving them around to create a new design in seconds.

The backboard, which is included in every standard backsplash kit is magnetic and represents the backsplash area from the counter top to the bottom of the upper cabinets. The dark background represents the grout lines you will see when you put your tiles in place.

The 133 tiles pieces included in your standard backsplash kit represent actual tiles. They are full-size pre-cut magnetic tiles.

So let’s get designing!

1)  Start with one of the included pre-designed tile ideas or with your own design.

2)  Place the magnet tiles on the backboard, leaving your determined grout joint size between the tile pieces.

Since the backboard and tile pieces are magnetic, you can layer tiles to show accent designs. If you find the tiles are not staying in place, rotate them until the magnets grab.

3)  Once all the pieces are in place, prop it up against the current backsplash and see what your custom tile design will look like “NOW”.

Another design adding 2 x 2's and 1 x 1 accent tiles

Want to see another design? Just move the tiles around.

Want to see multiple designs at the same time?  Purchase a second kit and compare different designs side-by-side.

Want to see a design with your exact tiles?  No problem.

1)  Go online and download a picture of the tiles you are using.

2)  Use your computer’s picture editor to re-seize the pictures and make color copies of the tiles you are using.

3)  Use double-stick removable tape, attach them to your magnetic tiles pieces and move them around to find your perfect design.

BUT, do not mark on the face of the tile pieces or the backboard as they are not re-markable and pens and markers will stain their surface.

Or how about adding an accent colored tile?

Once you have finalized the design, make a quick sketch or take a picture with your camera.
Write the tile sizes on the picture and assign each different tile a number.
Then complete the Final Tile Selection Form (included in your kit) and hand to your installer.

This form is included in your kit.
